La Beada Locas Meeting
We're Back! Sat., Sept 13, 2008
6:30- 9:30 PM
at Heritage Glass
We plan to meet on the third Saturday of the month, but we do sometimes move the meeting date if we can coincide the La Beada Locas meeting with another event at Heritage Glass. See our upcoming dates below...
We always have show & tell so bring your beads! It's a highlight for everyone to display beads and get positive feedback and share ideas! Feel free to bring a little snack or beverage to share, but it's optional! We're all about the beads...and food...no, Beads!
Hope you had a great summer! Bring a bead to show something new you learned or perfected.
Each month, we have a Bead Exchange! We didn't talk about a theme for the September Exchange, so...even though August is usually "dog days", but I need inspiration to work on DOGS & CATS, so that will be our Exchange theme for the September meeting. Any bead that is reminiscent of a dog or a cat would be eligible. If you do not know how an exchange works, you'll find out when you get here, but it's a fun way to trade beads & keep you challenged by trying to come up with the best themed bead each month! We’ve taken a summer break to vacation & really miss each other until September 13th!
Coming up in the Fall: Brad Pearson will be our guest on October 11th; Tink Martin will be our guest on November 15th.
There's always a Special on LBL night! 10% off most tools & supplies, 35% off COE 104 Glass Rod. Our next meeting will be on Sat., Sept. 13th! Call in to arrange a shopping time over the summer!
See our revised website at www.labeadalocas.net for photos and more details about our meetings and members! Bring your input!
Call or e-mail if you need directions to Heritage Glass. 830-629-5956 Hope you can make it!

Heritage Glass Studio, New Braunfels
Friday, Nov. 14, 2008 Beginning Blown Vessels - Intricate blown soft-glass vessel techniques developed by Tink over the past several years are demonstrated, discussed and practiced. $195 per student.
Sat., Nov. 15, 2008 Intermediate Blown Vessels – Take your blown vessels to the next level! This class is for those familiar with Tink’s on-mandrel blown vessel techniques who would like to incorporate more complex embellishments and design elements into their works. Picks up where Miniature Blown Vessels leaves off. Covered are fancy lip wraps, fancy stoppers, alternate handle techniques, new body shapes, adding feet and much, much more! This class is a perfect follow-up to Beginning Blown Vessels, and can be taken the day AFTER that class. When offering both of these classes at a venue, we offer them on concurrent days, in order, for just this reason!
$195 per student.
Sun., Nov. 16, 2008 Tink's Tips and Tricks - This class is always great fun! We’ve assembled a wonderful collection of things to pique your interest and explore new avenues. Bring two finished beads to prep, one for an Electroforming project and one to Sandblast! Both processes will introduce you to a process & familiarize you with the steps to continue on your own. We’ll explore Venetian glass pen techniques, Image transfer & signing your work with sharpened Titanium. Other topics may include: glass compatibility stringer tests, implosion pendants, using PMC on glass, blowing/using shards and making your own signature cane. You’ll have plenty of time to try new techniques. It's structured playtime at its best. No two class sessions will be the same! Some Flameworking experience is desirable.
$225 per student.
$100 due per class upon registration, Balance due August 1st, 2008.
